As you release the grip of hurry, navigate through the healing process of past pain and disappointments, and pause for a moment, your mind will become clear, open, and receptive to everything God desires to communicate to you.
In the development of your mindfulness habits, mastering the art of calming yourself and concentrating on decluttering your distracted mind becomes essential. To fill your spirit, turn to God's word—a practice known as Lectio Divina, an ancient Christian tradition focusing on releasing distracting thoughts and immersing your mind in the word of God. Lectio Divina comprises four steps: read, meditate, pray, and contemplate.
1. Read Contemplatively: Engage with God's word in a contemplative manner. Allow it to speak to you intimately. Avoid rushing through the passage; instead, reflect on what God might be conveying to you personally. Recognize His word as a love letter, establishing a connection as you absorb His words.
2. Meditate on God's Word: Turn God's precious words over and over in your mind. Joshua 1:8-9 emphasizes the power of meditating on God's word, promoting prosperity, success, courage, and freedom from fear. Meditation becomes the key to overcoming fear.
3. Pray: Speak to God, expressing gratitude for His love. Share with Him the insights and lessons you gain as you contemplate His truth.
4. Contemplate: After connecting with God, simply rest in His love. No words are necessary. Imagine the serene companionship of a long-married couple sitting together in silence, enjoying each other's presence. Bask in God's love, abiding in it, as John 15:9 encourages.
Through the practice of mindfulness, I trust that you will forge a deeper connection with God than ever before. May His presence illuminate your path, and may His grace accompany you wherever your journey leads.
